MATERIALS & METHODS
Each major material — wood, masonry, steel, concrete and glass — is placed within a fundamental context of physical properties, historical evolution, structural behavior, sustainable design, contemporary methods of construction and detailing, building envelope systems, and new and future products. Their influence on design with respect to durability, building cost, lifecycle cost, and scheduling is evaluated.

construct details
A. (3) 3’ x 6” x 6” steel beams of 1/4” thickness
B. (3) steel base plates of 1/4” thickness bolted through the concrete base and welded with the steel beams
C. (18) 7/8-9 x 4” hex head bolts going through the steel base plates
D. 3’x2’x6” concrete base
E. (4) 5’ x 2” x1/4” curved steel bars plus (2) 5’ x 1” x 1/4” curved steel bars braced with (4) 1’-6” x 2” x 1/4” vertical steel bars welded to each other and the steel beams
F. (36) 6” x 6” x 1/8” steel sheets attached to the steel bar system with VHB tape
This construct was designed after thorough study and research of the Walt Disney Concert Hall. With the use of material similar to the case study we developed design and fabrication skills.
