DESIGN STUDIO 1
Studio One, Principles + Processes, provides a technical, conceptual, and ethical foundation for approaching architectural issues. Students learn fundamental skills for generating, representing, and archiving three-dimensional form with precision and clarity using a wide range of tools. Students are introduced to fundamental media used to generate, produce, and represent three-dimensional form and space.

Section model
One grey and one white model is combined to create a new model where student will now be required to also understand the spatial consequences of form. A moon viewing program was introduced and students are required to include stairs to develop circulation. The color blue is used to identify key features within the project as areas that allow inhabitants to view the moon.
Grey / white/ combination
Students are introduced to fundamental geometric principles to generate and calibrate architectural mass. Students will explore geometric methods of construction that transform a generic primitive into an articulated mass with specific formal and spatial qualities. Beginning with a primitive volume, each student will produce four variations of a cube using straight lines and flat surfaces (grey), four variations of a cube using radial lines and curved surfaces (white), and sixteen variations of a cube that explore the combination of straight lines / flat surfaces (grey) with radial lines / curved surfaces (white).
